Shave/Spoon Horse

I stole, copied, and pulled stuff out of my ass to build a portable shave horse that would fit in the motorhome's bins. The first prototype broke down with no tools other than a mallet and easily fit in the bins. It even worked well as a shavehorse, do you hear the but? Two things that sucked, it was butt ugly with wood chipping, splitting and shitty craftsmanship (my excuse, it was a prototype) and a shavehorse really isn't that good for making spoons and such. For spoons you need a spoonhorse. The only real difference between a shavehorse and a spoonhorse is in the method of clamping.

My shavehorse was built as modules, legs, base, and clamping mechanism. All that is needed to have a spoonhorse is a spoon clamping module that fits the horse base. As some of my foreign clients would say "a sheet of cake".

BTW, here is the base being made of proper wood for a horse:

Next is making a horse clamping module and a spoon clamping module to fit the base. The legs and seat will be repurposed from the prototype.

Damn it feels good to make something, all I've done recently is try to clean up the mess. I finally got the shop strightent up enough to work in, still a long way to go but at least I can build something in it and a couple of weeks ago there wasn't any way.

See you on down the road,

  1. Interesting, I like the idea. Could really use something that versatile and compact, need space saving :-)
But first must finish clearing the shop and finish setting up the grow corner ventilation set up, awaiting shipment delayed by snow. Really! In Canada, in the winter :-)

    1. Bob,
The first prototype worked well other than being butt ugly and a little small. This one will retain the butt ugly but bigger.
