GreenHouse Base

I brought a 6'X8' Greenhouse from Costco a couple of years ago, time flies when you live part of your life on the road, whatever I'm finally getting around to putting it together.

Greenhouse base:

Base built, the jigsaw puzzle will start tomorrow. I can't spend too much time putting it together, there are five Cannabis seedlings almost ready to transplant into their final grow bags and there is no room in the tents. Tomatoes, basil and peppers are coming soon.

I really am turning into an "old fart": Retired, puttering around in my garden, yelling at kids to get off my rocks, whatever the only thing a little cool is my garden is mostly Cannabis.

See you on down the road,

Name Change

No real or even good reason. Bubba One is now the title of the not so old but old blog. About the only real change is "Bubba One" will serve as the host for both "OK Guy" and "Wake, Bake and Grow" blogs.

2023 Season's Grow

We spend the Summer in Oregon so instead of a couple of "grows" I have to fit one planting in starting the first of October and harvest no later than mid May. Because Cannabis is legal in the Western States, next year I may try to extend the season by starting while still in the PNW. It will not make a big difference for the indoor plants other than no panic over will the Weed be ready for harvest in time but it could allow a outdoor grow. BTW, I've three photo and three auto plants I'm going to experiment with a hybrid indoor/outdoor grow just to see if it can be done.

Because of the high Summer heat here in the Desert Southwest, normal Spring-Summer-Fall outdoor grows can be a problem. Maybe a late Summer/Fall/Winter hybrid indoor/outdoor grow might work. You never know until you try.

This year's indoor grow will be four photo plants in the big tent and two auto plants in the small tent.

The big tent:

Two of the plants are a new genetics (for me) "Nova OG", there is also a Nova OG Auto in the small (auto) tent. Nova OG claims to produce >30% THC with high yield. The other two plants in the photo tent are Amnesia Fast and Peyote Gorilla, both should produce high yields and THC in mid to high 20%.

I had a nice surprise when we returned home from Oregon. Last years grow was a little disappointing, not as "potent" as I like and much lower yield than I normally expect. The reasons for the disappointing yield are pretty standard and easy to fix, mostly I had to rely on "help" because we were out of town during the early-middle of the grow and there were water issues, pruning issues and a light mix up with the auto/photo plants. I was lucky having the harvest we did. The nice surprise was I thought we had taken all the 2022 grow to Oregon with us. In fact I was so sure I bought a $300 USD oz. of Oregon Weed to help bridge the wait for the 2023 harvest in late April early May. Turns out we had left six jars of OG Kush and White Widow with little over an oz. in each jar behind.

One more thing: The photo tent now has a California LightWorks SolarSystem 1100 light with it's auto-controller. It is a pretty amazing system, it controls the level of red, white, and blue light individually, it can give a slow dawn light increase and a slow light decrease for night. It is a very powerful controller that allows almost total control of light levels and color output.

A Different Way to Consume Cannabis

We all know about smoke, gummies, and brownies. What I've been playing with is another way to use flower. Once you have decarboxylated the bud nothing else is needed. Grind it up and eat it straight, sprinkle it on your pasta, baked potato, eggs, or whatever. A little MCT oil mixed with the grind may help, I'm not sure yet the best way but bottom line there is no need for a lot of "prep". As always, when testing go slow. The first time I tried just breaking a hunk off a decarboxylated bud and popped in my mouth it kicked my ass (I have a high tolerance and it really kicked my ass) for several hours.

The biggest problems are the same as with gummies and brownies, it takes awhile to take effect and is difficult to titrate. With smoke you know within a minute or two if another hit is needed or not. One of the ways around the delay is to use a tincture at the same time, about the time the tincture is losing effect the eatable is kicking in. The titrate problem is just trial and error.

Setting up the grow bags today, five or six 15gal. bags for the big tent, two for the small auto-flower tent. The leftover photo-flower plants will go in either 20 gal or 30 gal bags for an outside grow. I've not a clue if a outside grow will work with this late a start but you don't know until you try.

It is good to be home with my plants,

Home From Oregon

We made it home after three hard days herding the motorhome down the road in high wind. Other than a water leak and AC motor I had to fix while there and the entry step that stopped working at the last fuel stop the motorhome made the trip with few squawks. I can't say the same for me, long and boring story for later.

I don't have the data to prove it but the grass is cheaper in Oregon than it is in AZ. I bought an oz. just before we left for home, thinking I was running low on flower. What I didn't remember was I didn't take all of last year's grow with us. Last season's grow was a disappointment but whatever, I still had a half dozen storage jars with around 30g of buds in each jar. The Oregon bud was "top shelf", in what may be good news/bad news the "top shelf" stuff ain't any better than my "disappointing" home grown.

AZ allows 6 plants per person per household which means I can grow 12 plants at any one time. I have 11 seedlings started in the sprout box. The big tent will take 6, all Photo, the small tent will take 2, all Auto, and 3 Photo plants will go outside just to see what happens with a Fall start here in AZ.

New Hearing Aids
